New Jersey Seeking Exception to Sport Betting Ban
A referendum aiming to legalize sport betting has passed in New Jersey with the following results: 66% of residents voted “yes” and 34 voted “no”. Looking back in past Federal Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act which was passed 19 years ago banned sport betting in the US, except Montana, Oregon, Delaware and Nevada.
Chris Christie, which is a Governor of New Jersey State, noted that sport betting is a billion dollar industry, and the state will have a brilliant opportunity for creating new jobs and developing local businesses.
State Senator Ray Lesniak tends to pass the law, which will allow to start sport betting licensing programs in counties Meadowlands, Freehold, Mays Landing and Monmouth.
