European Online Gambling Regulations
Nowadays different European countries employ various measures to control online gambling activities. For instance, the Danish Gambling Authorities has prohibited unlicensed gambling operators to advertise their services in any form: the distribution of website address and other online casino contacts will be regarded as advertising. The prohibition was applied to printed, digital and television advertisements. According to the decision of the Danish Gambling Authorities operators who ignore the law, will have to pay very high fines.
Some sources announced that Irish authorities postponed their decision to tax online gambling venues to 2014. Paul Kehoe, Irish minister, declared that congressmen should focus on the most urgent issues related with the Irish economy. This is the reason why the Irish government decided to publish this proposal early in 2013 in order to have enough time for debates and pass the law only in 2014.
Spanish online gambling venues will be licensed on June 1, as it was scheduled. However, there will be an insignificant delay in the web sites bearing the «.es» domain suffix starting their gambling activity – operations will launch their casino websites on June 5. Interesting is the fact, that the delay between the licensing and the launch of online casinos was requested by the operators. Online casino operators did not want to start on a weekend, as could have been difficult to resolve hiccoughs. Experts advise such technical projects to start on a workday and early in the morning, as the response from the technical team will be better and volume of the users will be quite low.
